Email, Spam Control, How to setup spam filtering for departmental or non-person aliases
Email sent to the 'departmental alias' (your-group@illinois.edu) is tagged by Spam Control. You can create a filter in your email client or on the mail server to filter on the header "X-Spam-Flag: Yes".
Add the account to your Spam Profile
If you would like to use Spam Control, instead of filtering in your email client or on the email server, the Campus Relays Team can add your 'departmental alias' to your personal Spam Control account. It will show up as an account under your Spam Control Profile.
A 'drop-down' menu will allow you to toggle between your primary account, and the departmental alias account you have been added to (see example).
Managing Department Spam
Spam sent to your departmental email account will then be placed in your personal quarantine, and will be included in your personal digests.
- IT Pros are encouraged to be familiar with the Spam Control settings in the Spam Digest web interface: https://go.illinois.edu/spamdigest.
What to include in your Request:
- The departmental email alias
- The NetID, it should be associated with (should be an IT Pro). At this time, only one delegate can be added.
- Transfer it to consult@illinois.edu.
Once the account has been provisioned, the email address for your-group@illinois.edu will be associated with the IT Pros email address (NetID@illinois.edu)
The departmental email alias must have already been approved by IAM team for use, otherwise the Help Desk will be unable to process your request.
The form to submit an alias request for a resource account is here: https://go.illinois.edu/SharedEmail
