How to add members to a channel
How to add members to a channel
- Under your account name in the upper right corner, select ‘My Channels’ to go to the channels page.
- Find the channel to which you'd like to add members, mouse over the channel and click on the pencil icon 'Edit' link.
- Click on the 'Members' tab in the channel's settings to see a list of current members of the channel. Note: if you need to change a users permissions or remove a user from the channel, you can use the corresponding buttons next to each person's name in this list.
- Click the 'Add Member' button on the right side of the page to open the add member dialog.
- Enter the netID for the user you'd like to add to the channel; to do so, begin typing the user's name or NetID in the 'Enter user name' field and use the auto complete drop-down to select the user. Note: if the user has not logged into Illinois Media Space before, you will not be able to add them as a user.
- Set the permissions that the user will have in the
channel–there are four possible choices:
- Member
- View channel content only.
- Contributor
- View channel content and add media to the channel.
- Moderator
- View channel content, add media to the channel, and moderate the channel.
- Manager
- View channel content, add media to the channel, moderate the channel, and manage the channel (edit channel setting and edit channel membership).
- Click 'Add' to add the user to the channel with the specified permission.
Note: Permissions are not inherited. A Manager of a channel cannot edit or publish the videos in it, unless they have roles in the individual media. Also, shared repositories allow members of a channel to publish the videos without other privileges.
