cPanel, Free campus web hosting at web.illinois.edu
Hosting your website at web.illinois.edu offers more flexibility and power than publish.illinois.edu, while also offering automatic updates with less complexity than direct hosting on AWS or Azure.
By using cPanel's one-click installers for WordPress, Drupal, jQuery, PHP, Ruby, and more, your web software will be easy to install and configure, and the cPanel-managed software will be automatically patched and updated for you, reducing security and maintenance concerns.
If you need additional custom software, you can also install your own via SSH / SFTP; however, you'll need to ensure patching and maintenance of your custom software.
Creating an account on cPanel
In order to create an account on cPanel, you need to be a current member of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with an @illinois.edu email address.
