Technology Loan Program, Overview

The Technology Loan Program is a partnership established across the campus IT community to loan technology hardware to eligible students who have unmet needs. While originally created for supporting remote learning and working during the Covid-19 pandemic, the program is now intended to provide short-term (1 semester maximum) loans to students in need of equipment.

Note: The Technology Loan Program no longer offers internet hotspot devices. We apologize for the inconvenience.

As of 6/30/21, loaner devices cannot be shipped. You must be able to come to our campus location (Digital Computer Lab) to pick up your equipment.

Students

Any student with technology hardware needs should contact the Student Assistance Center (SAC) at 217-333-0050 or helpdean@illinois.edu. The SAC helps students understand university policies and procedures, connects them to campus resources, and supports students in crisis.

Eligible students will be asked to complete a short webform. Once submitted and approved by SAC, the completed form goes to the Tech Services Help Desk to process. At this time, students will be contacted to pick up their device on campus.

Students in need of any special software should refer to Loaner Program, Software Requests and Technology Loaner Program, Student Software Resources .

Faculty/Staff Loans

As of 4/16/21, the Technology Loan Program is no longer available to faculty and staff. As such, faculty and staff with unmet needs should contact their departmental IT support staff to work on fulfilling their technology requirements.
