Information for students about getting software for use with a computer supplied by the Technology Loaner Program.

Getting Software

REQUIRED SOFTWARE: CrowdStrike Falcon

COVID-19 STUDENT RESOURCES: Continuing Key University Activities

CrowdStrike Falcon (required):
As part of your agreement to using this device, the University requires that the anti-malware product CrowdStrike Falcon is installed. Download CrowdStrike.

Office 365 (recommended):
Office can be run via any web browser or can be installed locally. Both options are available at the Illinois Office 365 portal. Use your netid and password to sign into the portal. This is a large download; if you use cellular internet, be aware that it will use a significant portion of your monthly data.

Remote Access to Lab Computers:
The ICS computer labs have made a large number of software programs available that can be run remotely. Visit go.illinois.edu/RemoteComputerLabs for information on how to connect, what software is available, and how to request software that is not currently available.

Campus VPN
The Cisco AnyConnect VPN enables access to resources that are restricted to the campus network.

Webstore:
Many software companies are making special pricing (sometimes free) available to students for a limited time use via the Webstore. Visit webstore.illinois.edu to find the current list of offers. Some interesting specials include: Adobe Creative Cloud, Stata, SPSS, MATLAB, and others.

Getting help:
Please contact the Help Desk at consult@illinois.edu or 217-244-7000 for assistance with your loaned device.
