ClassTech, Campus Instructional Facility Microphone Issue Fall 2021
Additional information about the CIF microphones intermittent issues not working with the PC for Zoom, Skype, Teams, etc.
There is sometimes a disruption in the network communication between the classroom microphones and the resident PC. When this happens the classroom microphones do not work with Zoom, Skype, Teams, etc.
We have raised the issue to the electronics vendor. Technology Services is coordinating installation of replacement equipment with the construction projectâââ‰â¢s audiovisual integrator. In the meantime, as instructors use the spaces they may find those microphones not working properly.
If the microphone is not communicating with the PC, they will need to use either the microphone in the USB camera or the USB lapel microphone available in the room. These can be selected from whatever application they are using (Zoom, Skype, Teams, etc.).
How to tell if the microphone is communicating with the PC
The microphones are communicating when both of the lights on the Extron receiver inside the lectern are both illuminated green. If they are not both illuminated then the microphone has lost connectivity with the PC.
