Overview

For mobile Windows devices, deploy the 'Secure Client Start Before Login'. In combination with the 'Secure Client AnyConnect VPN', this allows off-campus first-time users to log into a mobile device with their campus credentials.

Deploy and use the 'Secure Client Start Before Login'

  • Deploy the 'Secure Client Start Before Login - Latest' application to the respective collection - located at '\Software Library\Overview\Application Management\Applications\MANAGED APPLICATIONS\VPN\Modules'
    • Ensure the 'Secure Client AnyConnect VPN - Latest' is deployed to the same collection

  • Once installed, refer to the steps below for a walk-through of the end-user's experience
    • At the login screen, connect to an available network by selecting the globe:
      • Connect to network through globe at login screen

    • Once you have connected, select the icon to the left of the last globe icon to launch the VPN
      • Select icon to the left of the globe to open VPN

    • When prompted, enter ‘vpn.cites.illinois.edu’ and click ‘connect’
      • Enter VPN server and select connect

    • Once prompted, input your UofI credentials
      • Input your UOFI credentials

    • Once connected, return to the login window and select ‘Other user’. Login with your UofI credentials
      • Login with UOFI credentials at main login window
