Registering your device with Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure AD) is essential for accessing university resources such as Microsoft Teams and email. This process ensures secure and seamless access to these services, enhancing your overall experience.
Benefits of Microsoft Entra Device Registration
- Single Sign-On (SSO): Once registered, you will enjoy SSO to university resources like Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.), Canvas, Zoom, Box, and more. This means you won't have to enter your password each time you access these services.
- Enhanced Security: Registering your device creates trust between our directory and your device, ensuring that security policies are applied to keep your device secure.
How to Register Your Device
Windows Devices
- Via Settings
- Go to Settings -> Accounts -> Access work or school.
- Select Connect from the Access work or school screen.
- Via Microsoft Application:
- Sign into a Microsoft application (e.g., Edge browser, Office 365, Teams) with your university credentials.
- You will be prompted to authenticate with your university credentials and asked if you want to allow your organization to manage your device.
Important Notes
- Passwordless Authentication: After registering your device, it will automatically and securely authenticate on your behalf using a Primary Refresh Token (PRT). This token continuously refreshes as long as you actively use the device.
- Device Management Policies: During device registration, you can choose to uncheck the box to allow the organization to manage your device if you prefer not to have device management policies applied.
