Steps to uninstall Dell Data Protection (DDP) on macOS and Windows.

On April 4, 2022 the campus Dell Data Protection (DDP) service was retired and its servers were shut down.

The Technology Services Endpoint Services (EPS) team worked with DDP service stakeholders to transition to Workspace ONE for disk encryption and recovery key escrow.

Currently, any remaining DDP clients will be unable to communicate with the console, and will present issues when removing the DDP software and unencrypting the device.

If you discover remaining DDP-enabled devices in your unit, please contact EPS for assistance.

Uninstalling Dell Data Protection

Follow these steps to safely remove Dell Data Protection from an endpoint.

  1. In the DDP console, turn off management for the endpoint.
  2. Commit the change.
  3. Allow the endpoint to fully unencrypt.
  4. Uninstall the DDP client software from the endpoint.
  5. If enrolling in Workspace ONE:
    1. Ensure that the endpoint has been fully unencrypted.
    2. Install the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub agent on the endpoint.
    3. Apply the appropriate encryption profile.
