Getting the Installation package
  • Download the appropriate package from WebStore. The downloads can be found under your purchase history.
Installing CrashPlan

Double click on the downloaded installer file to start the installation process.
NOTE: Admin access on your machine may be required to install the client.

Install Splash screen, setup wizard

Click Next to continue.
Depending on your computer setup and your permission level, you can choose either to install CrashPlan for your individual account (prefered) or for the entire computer.

Select the location for the application to reside and then click Next.

Click on the Install button to start the installation.

The installer will display the progress of the process, click on the Next button to continue.

The completed install splash screen will be displayed. Click Finish to close the installer and the setup and application will start.

Once the Finish button is clicked that window will close, a login screen will appear.
If you have already installed Code42 on another computer, login with your Active direct username.
If the server address is not filled in, enter

NOTE: If you have not installed Code42 on another computer, or have not used Code 42 click on the "Sign up for an account" link and follow instructions for NEW ACCOUNT

Since Code42 / CrashPlan will be using AD for authentication you will need to use your AD netid and password to sign into the Code42 / CrashPlan account. 

Application Splash Screen - Username, password, and Server Address

The Application will startup immediately and automatically begin backing up your computer.


After clicking the "Sign up for an account link, you will be presented with the following window. You will need to enter the Registration Key and Server Address:

Registration Key: 84C4-R9HC-KCSH-7CT9
Server Address:

Click Sign Up to continue 

In the new window fill in your First Name, Last Name, and AD Password. Click on the Sign Up button and after a few moments the Code 42 / CrashPlan application will start automatically.
