iSchool Rooms: How to Use the Control Panel (Rooms 12, 46, 131, & 242)

Rooms 12, 46, 131, and 242 in 501 E Daniel St. have a standard control panel with buttons that perform a handful of commands.

Control Panel Guide

The button layout may look slightly different in each room, but the functions remain the same. The control panel is generally located on the wall near the instructor desk at the front of each room.

  • Power: Turns the projector on and off.

  • Mute: Pauses the display (a blank screen is shown), but the projector remains on and everything remains connected.

  • Volume: Please adjust the volume on the PC (built-in or laptop) first. Afterwards, this will control the volume of the room speakers further.

  • PC: This enables you to project the built-in computer to the screen. If you are using one of the hybrid-capable rooms and have a guest joining online or otherwise need to interact with an online audience, it is necessary to use this setting. Note that you can also join the same meeting on your laptop (muting your laptop's speakers and mic) for ease and comfort, but the built-in computer will need to handle sound.

  • HDMI : This enables you to project a laptop screen via an HDMI cable or an attached USB-C dongle. This connection method will allow you to use the room's display and speakers, but not the microphone or cameras - so this connection type will not work for hosting hybrid meetings or classes.

  • VIDEO: This will give you the same options as PC (in rooms with Solstice capabilities this will be the setting you will need to use).

  • MIC: Turns the room's built-in microphone system on and off. A blue light on the ceiling mic indicates it's on and a red light indicates it is off.
