Recordings for Zoom Meetings

Guide to recording meetings over Zoom

NOTE: Make sure that you are using the most recent version of Zoom to ensure that the information in these pages matches what you see. This documentation from Zoom explains how to check for updates. After updating, restart your computer. 

To record:

As a host, you can record your meeting by clicking the Record button on the meeting control panel:

You have the option to either record the meeting to the cloud, or record on your computer. 

Alternatively, if you would like, you can turn on automatic recording. This feature enables the recording to start as soon as the meeting begins.

To access your recording:

Log in to and select the Recordings tab to view available recordings:

Note: as of September 8, 2020, all Zoom recordings will be automatically moved to the associated Illinois Media Space account, and the Zoom copy will be deleted after 30 days.
