Getting Software

CrowdStrike Falcon (required):

As part of your agreement to using this device, the University requires that the anti-malware product CrowdStrike Falcon is installed. Download CrowdStrike.

Office 365 (recommended)

Office can be run via any web browser or can be installed locally. Both options are available at the Illinois Office 365 portal. Use your netid and password to sign into the portal. This is a large download; if you use cellular internet, be aware that it will use a significant portion of your monthly data.


UIUC AnyWare is a virtual desktop environment allowing students to access software whether remote, on campus, or in class. Students can access UIUC AnyWare on multiple devices and operating systems including Windows, Mac OS, and Linux, iOS, and Android. Most of the class software you will need can be found on the virtual desktops. This is a good option for most,  internet connections and does not require you to download and install software on your device.

Campus VPN
The Cisco AnyConnect VPN enables access to resources that are restricted to the campus network.
