EWS Labs, Course Directory

Overview

This article provides information about requesting an EWS course directory.

What is an EWS course directory?

EWS course directories are meant to provide permanent storage for important course files that are needed each time the course is taught. Since EWS user home directories are reset each semester, we ask instructors to store any essential files related to your courses in a dedicated course directory.

How to request an EWS course directory

Submit a request that includes the course number and OS type (e.g. accessed by Linux or Windows labs) at https://go.illinois.edu/ewshelp. By default, course staff will have full permissions. Students registered for the course can also be configured with select permissions upon request.

Access an EWS course directory

  • For a Windows course directory, follow the guide at https://go.illinois.edu/ews-remote-homedir-windows and use the path provided by EWS staff (e.g. \\ad.uillinois.edu\engr-ews\classes\course-number)
  • For a Linux course directory, the path will be automatically configured within the EWS Linux environment for the respective course staff.
