Business Objects - Security Exception Error Due to Java Patch

What do I do when I see the Security Exception error, when in Business Objects?

The Security Exception application error "Missing required Permissions manifest attribute in main jar:  https://eddie.ds.uillinois.edu/analyticalreporting/webiapplet/thincadenza.jar" is due to a Java patch that was pushed to everyone.  The error appears when trying to view reports.

The fix for this issue is to add EDDIE to the Java exception list.  There are two different methods to do this.

Method 1

Go to the Control Panel and find the Java module.

Java1

In the Java console, go to the Security tab and look at the exception list.

Java2

If you do not find https://eddie.ds.uillinois.edu then click the Edit Site List button.

ExceptionSiteList

Then click OK.

Verify the new entry for https://eddie.ds.uillinois.edu now appears in the list.  If it does not, then use Method 2.

Method 2

From the Windows Start menu, select All Programs and then Accessories.

StartMenu

Find “Notepad” and right click on the Program.  A menu will appear, select Run as Administrator.  If you are prompted with a security question, answer YES.  Now using File->Open, browse to the folder C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment and open the file exception.sites.  Add a new line with:

https://eddie.ds.uillinois.edu

Click Save. Now if you go back to the Java console, security tab you should see this entry in the exception list.
