Illinois Compass 2g, Setting course availability

How do I make my course available or unavailable to students?

You can control when your course is private—or unavailable—to your students. For example, you may not want students to access your course during the building process.

To make a course unavailable to students:
  1. Open the course.
  2. Select Customization in the left-hand menu.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Under the Set Availability and then select No.
    1. Note: If you choose this option and click "Submit," you will have to come back to your course to manually make the course available to students at a time of your choosing.
    2. The alternative is to check the Select Dates button under the Set Course Duration section, edit the dates for availability, and then click Submit (this option will make the course available to students on the set date without requiring manual resetting of its availability).
  5. Click Submit.

Alternately, you can now toggle your course's availability on and off by clicking the padlock icon found in the upper-right side of content pages.

You can also quickly change the availability of your course in the main home page. At the top management area next to Enter Student Preview, select the Make unavailable icon.

To manually make a course available to students:
  1. Open the course.
  2. Select Customization in the left-hand menu.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Under the Set Availability and then select Yes.
  5. Click Submit.

Or, toggle the padlock icon on content pages to make content available once again for students.
