Guests, Visitors' Guide
This page contains information about network access for guests and visitors to campus.
The resources available to you as a guest of or visitor to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus will depend on your visiting arrangements and the length of your stay.
Guests who visit the campus for a few days often want network access, and possibly computer lab access. To learn more about the network and lab access available to you during your visit, see Guests, Information for short-term network access (few days).
If you'll be around campus for a longer period of time — a month to a
year, for example — you'll want a sponsored NetID, which provides access to
library resources and campus email, in addition to network access. To
learn more about guest NetIDs, see Guests, Requesting a Long Term (sponsored) Guest NetID
Even as a visitor without an on-campus host, you can still access the Internet by selecting IllinoisNet_Guest as the wireless network. Once connected to IllinoisNet_Guest, open a web browser, and visit a website (e.g. Google or Illinois). You will be redirected to a web site where you may select the "Visitor Access" option to create a guest account.
If you're visiting from another University of Illinois campus, your University of Illinois-granted NetID will provide network access for you in many cases.
If you're visiting from a university that's a member of the international Eduroam consortium, you can use your own university identity to receive network access at any other member institution, including the University of Illinois. See Networking, Wireless, Eduroam at the University of Illinois for more information.
