Security, Antivirus, McAfee VirusScan, How to update the virus definitions

How do I update my VirusScan software?

If you are using McAfee VirusScan with Windows, the software is set to automatically update every day. You can also update VirusScan by right-clicking on the shield icon in the taskbar on lower right corner of your screen and then selecting "Update Now or Update Security".

If you are unable to update VirusScan through the program, you can download the definitions file off of McAfee's website and install it manually. To do so:
  1. Go to http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security_updates/superdat.asp
  2. Click on the current V2 dat file (following the naming convention ####xdat.exe)
  3. Download the file.
  4. Run the file after it is downloaded. The Dat will automatically update VirusScan's virus definitions to the latest release.
