McAfee 8.8i Enterprise Edition for Personal Use freezes and crashes while attempting to install on a Windows machine.

If McAfee 8.8i Enterprise Edition for Personal Use freezes and crashes while attempting to install on a Windows machine, the solution to this problem two-fold:
  1. When you run the installer, first right-click and select "Run as Administrator."
  2. The installer will still appear to freeze in the middle of the installation process and will report the time remaining incorrectly. Although the time remaining will freeze at somewhere under a minute, assume this to be false, and allow the program to continue running. After about 15 minutes, the progress bar will quickly finish the installation and reboot the machine. When the PC reboots, McAfee should launch successfully.
