Email, Google Apps @ Illinois, Sending as @illinois.edu from a personal @gmail.com account

I wanted to send mail as an @illinois.edu account from my personal @gmail.com account.

You have to have an Illinois Office365 mailbox for this to work. For people with an Office365 mailbox wanting to send mail as @illinois.edu from their personal Gmail account, they can configure Gmail on the web to send via Office365.

We suggest you delete any old configurations and recreate them with the steps below.
  1. To open the wizard, click Add another email address in the Accounts and Import tab of Gmail settings.
  2. Enter your name and @illinois.edu email address then click Next Step.
  3. In the Send mail through your SMTP server window, set SMTP Server to smtp.office365.com and Port to 587.
  4. Enter your @illinois.edu email address and your password.
  5. Choose Secured connection using TLS and then click Add Account.
  6. In the last window, confirm the verification code sent to your @illinois.edu account to complete the setup.
