Networking, Wireless, IT Pros, Wireless, Requests to investigate or expand wireless coverage
An IT Professional reports that coverage may have gaps in particular areas of a building, and would like to look into expanding wireless coverage.
If an IT Pro contacts Technology Services to report signal strength issues, or asks about expanding wireless coverage in a building, the IllinoisNet Wireless group can work with the department to survey coverage and come up with a plan, and cost, to expand coverage.
The IT Pro will need to provide the following to email@example.com:
1) Building Name
2) Room(s), or Area to be investigated
3) Contact Information.
The wireless group will work with the IT Pro to conduct a survey of the desired location, and determine what is needed to provide the requested coverage for the area.
Once a survey is performed and work wishes to be continued the IT pro can submit an application form found here: IllinoisNet Wireless application form (online)
NOTES: These requests must come from the IT Pro. There will likely be a cost involved to increase wireless coverage. Please note that some areas of a building may not have a strong enough wireless signal for a reliable connection. The area could be listed as a supported area of the building, or this could be a request to expand coverage to a new area.
