Networking, Wireless, Full Building Wireless Coverage

This page explains how full building wireless coverage is defined in Campus WiFi buildings.

During the campus network upgrade, many recent Campus WiFi installations have been upgraded to full building coverage.

Full building coverage includes places where people live, work, and gather on a regular basis, including:
  • Classrooms and lecture halls
  • Offices
  • Dorm rooms
  • Teaching laboratories
  • Student lounges
  • Dining areas
  • Areas with public seating such as an atrium

Areas not defined as part of "full building coverage" include infrastructure areas and some specific areas of exclusion. These types of areas include:

  • Building mechanical spaces
  • Closed stairwells
  • Building bathrooms
  • Elevators
  • Outdoor spaces

In addition, some specific areas have not been covered. These areas include:

  • Library stacks
  • Any space where the department has requested no wireless coverage
