Networking, Walkup computing, How to use

How do I use walkup computing?

The Walkup network is accessible by computers running most operating systems: Windows, Mac, or Linux, provided you have a working ethernet adapter and a network cable (CAT5/ RJ45-45 type cable - make sure it's not a URHnet style RJ45-11 cable with different sized adapters on each end.)

Once you plug in to a walkup port, follow these connection instructions:

1. Open a web browser. This should automatically direct you to the login page. If it does not, please try navigating to http://illinois.edu
2. Log in with valid NetID and NetID password.

Note: It is not necessary to reconfigure TCP/IP network settings to connect to the walkup network. If the computer is configured for another network, you may leave those settings unchanged.
