How do I run a traceroute?

To run a traceroute, do the following:

  1. Click on "Start."
  2. Select "Run..."
  3. Type the following: cmd.
  4. Click "OK."
  5. At the command prompt type: tracert  Replace with the domain of the server you want to run a traceroute on.
  6. Hit "Enter" on the keyboard.
  7. Wait while the traceroute runs.
Mac OS X:
  1. Double-click on the Hard Drive icon located on the desktop.
  2. Click on the "Applications" folder.
  3. Click on the "Utilities" folder.
  4. Double-click on Network Utility.
  5. Click on the trace route tab.
  6. Type in the domain of the server.
  7. Press "enter" on the keyboard.
  8. Wait while the traceroute runs.
