Email, Google Apps @ Illinois, Setup
The University of Illinois has partnered with Google to deliver enhanced email and collaboration services to undergraduate students.
NOTE: If you are a graduate or professional student, you may be eligible for an Exchange account (Unified Communications). Please see the Graduate Students' Introduction to UC for more information.
Google Apps @ Illinois for Undergraduates
All undergraduate students are eligible to create Google Apps @ Illinois accounts:
- Instant messaging / chat
- Web-based applications:
- Google Sync
- Google Docs
- Google Sites

Whether or not you choose to use your Google Apps @ Illinois account, please visit Partner Computing and indicate where you want your official University email (firstname.lastname@example.org email) sent.
NOTE: If you do not take action, you will not receive official University communications.
Choose Google Apps @ Illinois or a Forwarding Email Address
Whether or not you choose to use your Google Apps @ Illinois account, you must indicate where you want your email@example.com email sent. This can be either your Google Apps account or a third party email address. All official University communication, including that from your professors, will come through your firstname.lastname@example.org email, and you are expected to check it regularly.

NOTE: Your Google Apps @ Illinois email address is one of the easiest ways to identify yourself as a University student to your professors, advisers, and fellow students. They will expect you to use it.
Access Your Google Apps @ Illinois Email
If you choose to direct your email@example.com email to Google Apps @ Illinois, you can access your email through the web interface at http://g.illinois.edu, or you can configure POP or IMAP on mobile devices or desktop email clients, such as Microsoft Outlook and Apple Mail:
