What is Office 365 for PC and Mac?
Office 365 is a full version of Microsoft Office for PC or Mac. It is a distribution service which allows each active Student, Faculty or Staff member at UIUC the right to download and install Office desktop applications on their personal computers and mobile devices for free.
Am I eligible for Office 365 software as a Retiree?
Retirees and OLLi Scholars are not eligible for Office 365 software, though they get Office 365 Email. Emeritus status does not automatically qualify you for Office 365. If a retiree is performing work for a Department, the Department should assign them an appointment.
What is included in Office 365 software?
Office 365 for PC (Office 2016 base applications) - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Skype for Business, and InfoPath.

Office Mobile for iPad, iPhone and Android (Office Mobile applications are already included with all Windows phones)-Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile, and OneNote and Lync Mobile available as separate download.
How long can I use Office 365 for?
You can use Office 365 until you are no longer enrolled or employed at the University. Eligibility may be re-verified at any time. At expiration, the Office applications enter a reduced-functionality mode, which means documents can be viewed but it is not possible to edit or create new documents. You will be prompted to activate with another account or enter a Product Key. In addition, online services associated with the school email address, for example Office Online and OneDrive, will no longer work.
What happens to my data in OneDrive for Business after I leave the University?
Once your Office 365 license has been removed from your account you will no longer have access to your data. You must copy your data to another location before leaving.
Who manages the OneDrive for Business account provided with this offer?
This account is associated with the school and can be used for personal content, such as homework and schoolwork or personal files if you are staff. Permissions and access can be changed by the school's IT administrator at any time.
How many computers/ devices can I run this subscription on?
You can install Office 365 on 5 PCs or Macs, 5 tablets and 5 mobile devices such as iPhones and Android phones.
What are the system requirements for Office 365 software?

The 32-bit version is recommended for most users. The 32 bit version can be installed on 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems. The 64-bit Office can only be installed on a 64-bit operating system.
Do I need to remove previous or trial versions from my computer before
I download this version?
Yes, we recommend you remove your old versions especially trial versions. Then restart your computer before starting the new installation.
Is Internet access required for Office 365?
This is the full version of Office, and all are applications are available for offline use. You will need internet access to install, activate and manage your account.
How do I deactivate an installation?
If you need to deactivate one of the computers that you have installed Office 365, you can do so by going to any of the computers that you have the software on, and open Word. Click on the File tab and choose Account. Click on Manage Account. All of the computers that you have activated will be listed. Click on deactivate next to the name of the computer. You can now install the software on another computer.
How can I find out how many computers or devices I have activated?
You can view how many computers you have activated by logging into the Office Portal. Click the icon for My Account in the upper right corner. Click the My Account link. Click the Apps & Devices link. From here you will see a link to download Office and a list of the computers that you have activated Office on.
Will Office 365 software work on Google Chrome Books?
No, laptops or desktops must use either Windows OS or Apple OS (Mac).
How Do I install the 64 bit version of Office 365 instead of the 32 bit version?
To choose to install the 64 bit version instead of the 32 bit version of Office click on Other Install Options under the Install Office Apps button. Then click Advanced and 64-bit from the drop down menu. Click run to begin the installation.
