Password Management - Password Rules

What are the password rules for my NetID?

The password rules for IAM are as follows:

  • The password must contain at least one (1) UPPER CASE letter
  • The password must contain at least one (1) LOWER CASE letter.
  • The password must contain at least one (1) numeric DIGIT: (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) AND/OR a special character, e.g., @#$% (both sets may be used simultaneously)
  • The password cannot contain any four (4) consecutive characters of your network account (username), also known as your Enterprise ID, NetID or LogonID.
  • The password must be between eight (8) and fifteen (15) characters in length.
  • The password cannot contain any dictionary word greater than or equal to four (4) characters.
  • The password cannot be changed to any used in the past 3 years
