Lync, Setting or Changing Default Greeting

I need to set an initial greeting, change a greeting, revert to a default greeting.

Setting Your Initial Default Greeting 

From a Windows Lync client

  1. Click on the Phone tab 
  2. Click on the Display Voice Mail Options (gear) icon 
  3. Select Change Greetings from the menu
  4. You will hear, "You have not recorded a personal greeting."
  5. Press 1
  6. Record your personal greeting after the beep per the prompts
  7. Your new message will play after you press the pound sign (#). Follow the prompts to accept 

Changing Your Default Greeting 

From a Windows Lync client 

  1. Click on the Phone tab 
  2. Click on the Display Voice Mail Options (gear) icon 
  3. Select Change Greetings from the menu
  4. You will hear, "This is your current personal greeting," followed by your recording. 
  5. Press 2 if you want to re-record your message, then follow the prompts. 
  6. Press 3 if you want to revert to the default greeting

What if I don't have a Windows Lync Client to make these changes? 

If you have a Mac Lync client you can access these options by doing the following: 

  1. Log in to OWA at https://webmail.illinois.edu
  2. Click on Options, then select See All Options
  3. Click on the Phone "tab" on the left-hand side of the screen, and make sure the Voice Mail "tab" is selected along the top of the screen
  4. Find the section for Greetings and click on the link "Call me to play or record the selected greeting..."
  5. Press the Dial button
  6. Your Lync client will start ringing with a call from you. Accept it and then follow the prompts per the directions above
