Online Ethics Training for University Employees - Frequently Asked Questions

Commonly asked questions regarding the online ethics training program.

Q: Should I have received an email regarding ethics training?
A: Emails announcing the training will be delivered throughout the day on October 3.  Be patient if your coworkers receive their email before you.  If you are expecting an email and have not received one by October 4, contact the AITS Service Desk.

Q: When am I required to complete the online training?
A: Online ethics training must be completed by 5:00 p.m. CST on November 1, 2016.  You should complete the training during your regular work hours or as your supervisor directs.

Q: What happens if I don't complete my ethics training by the deadline?
A: Failure to complete the training will result in the required reporting of your name to the Office of Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor.  The penalties of noncompliance may include a hearing before the Illinois Executive Ethics Commission and/or the assessment of fines up to $5,000.  In addition, the University may impose disciplinary action on any employees who do not train during the designated online training period. You should contact Academic Human Resources (http://www.ahr.illinois.edu/contacts.html), not the Ethics office.

Q: Will I receive reminders to complete the online ethics training?
A: Scheduled reminders will be sent on October 14th and 28th by the University Ethics and Compliance Office to only those individuals who have not completed the course.  Unit contacts and other employees at the college and campus levels may also send supplemental reminders, based on completion status, throughout the training period.

Q: Can I start the ethics training course then finish it later?
A: Yes.  The program can be completed in segments and you will be able to log in and out of the course as necessary before the training deadline of November 1, 5:00 p.m. Upon logging back into the program, you will be returned to your last-viewed page in the course.  Upon subsequent logins, you will use the password created upon your initial login to access your individual progress.

Q: Why is the password that I used last year not being accepted?
A: All passwords are reset every year, regardless if you have completed ethics training online in past years.

Q: Who can I talk to regarding the content of the ethics training?
A: If you have any questions regarding training content, please contact the University Ethics and Compliance Office on the Ethics Line at: 866-758-2146 or via e-mail at: ethicsofficer@uillinois.edu

Q: Who should I call for technical support or login assistance?
A: You can contact the University of Illinois AITS Service Desk for personal assistance accessing the course, resetting your password, or other technical questions.
