ATLAS CMS - Adding content to page

Learn to add content to a page with the ATLAS CMS.

Content consists of the images, text, videos, and other medias we use to convey meaning through our website.

In ATLAS CMS, at the page level, we place our content in Content Sections.

The types of content usable on a given page depends on the layout we select.

Let's go to our Edit Page screen for a closer look.

We have chosen the 'Default' layout, which offers us a "Main Content" content section.

To put content into the Main Content section, hit the "Add Content" button.

hit the standard text option
While this layout gives us access to "Advanced" and "People" content sections - let's select and focus on the Standard Text option.

text editor

This is the text editor for ATLAS CMS. You can hover over any of the feature buttons and descriptive text will appear.

While this looks like a word processor, and in some ways behaves as one, there's a bit more going on.

Important to note here that without a 'Working Title' we can't Confirm Changes when we are done. The Working Title doesn't display on the live webpage, but it helps for organization in the ATLAS CMS.

So, we'll want to begin with that.

Now that our content section has a working title - we can move on to content entry.

We'll notice here that the text is entered in the content window. However, we can highlight the text and use the features of the text editor to have the style match the words.

Here's one example:

highlight title

We've highlighted the correct text. Now we will select the drop-down that says Normal to determine size.

In a website, we don't pick specific font sizes. Instead, we select categories of size that are relative to the way the page displays.

Here, we'll pick Heading 2 and see what that looks like.

Since that looks correct, we can highlight the rest of the text and select the appropriate feature by looking through the text editor.

The final resulting will look like this:

styled text

When we hit Confirm Changes, we can then see our new content section.

To delete the content section, we can hover over it with our mouse and then click the 'X' that appears in the right corner.
