Media files organized in Media Space

How are files in Illinois Media Space organized?

Everything in Illinois Media Space is stored in one large database with lots of metadata. Whoever uploads media into the system is the owner of the media, when using Illinois Media Space this will appear as your “My Media” section in one large folder sortable by various metadata (tags, keywords, etc). This is how your media follows you throughout the Campus Media Engine services, e.g. Illinois Media Space to Illinois Compass 2g.
To publish media for viewing by others, there is a category tree. There are public (galleries) and private (channels) publishing points that fall into this category tree. You can see how this works by drilling down through the “Colleges” heading.
Note: channels cannot have subcategories like galleries, channels are single tiered.
