Illinois Compass 2g, Emails blocked by Spam Control

How do I make sure my students receive emails I send from the Compass system?

While the automated system email from Compass is safe listed the individual email from Compass is NOT and passes through the spam filters. This is due to the number of compromised accounts (student, faculty, staff) and is a measure to prevent spammers from using a compromised account to send spam via Compass.

In some cases an individuals email from Compass will be caught by the Spam filters to tag it as spam. However, there are a couple of ways you can ensure your email makes it to the students:

1) use your @illinois.edu email account to send email to your students. You can create a mail group in Outlook that represents the students in your class.

2) Ask your students to add your Compass mail to their safe list.

We regret some legitimate email is identified as spam however, due to the potential abuse of individual email via Compass, a policy was created to filter all individual Compass mail to prevent spam.
