Blackboard Collaborate, Sharing Audio and Video
In a Blackboard Collaborate session users will use audio to deliver lectures and lead discussions. Participants may be asked to contribute to discussions either through the chat area or their microphones. It is recommended that participants and moderators use a headset and microphone to ensure consistent audio quality in the class session. Interactivity can be enhanced via sharing video and both participants and moderators can turn on their webcams when talking.
Sharing AudioTo ensure the best audio experience possible run the Audio Setup Wizard at the start of each session. Run the wizard by clicking on the microphone icon at the top of the Audio & Video panel or through the menu by going to Tools > Audio > Audio Setup Wizard.
Audio and video controls are found in the Audio & Video panel which is located by default above the Participant panel. Press the Talk button to toggle the microphone in order to speak inside Blackboard Collaborate. When the talk button is activated, a blue microphone will appear in the right corner of the button. A blue microphone icon will also appear next to your name in the Participant panel. When you are finished speaking press the talk button again. There can be a maximum of 6 simultaneous speakers This can be configured by a moderator through Tools > Audio > Maximum Simultaneous Talkers
Use the speaker and Mic level sliders to control the volume within Blackboard Collaborate. For best performance keep both at 50%. When you speak a black bar will fluctuate with the sound of your voice on the mic level slider. Another black bar will fluctuate on the speaker level slider when another person in the room speaks.
