How do I locate my MAC address?

Windows - Any OS (Command Prompt)

  • Click on the Windows Start key (bottom left-hand corner of the screen) to open the Windows menu.
  • Type cmd in the Search box (also referred to as the Run box for Windows XP) on the bottom of the Windows menu and press Enter to launch the command prompt. A black box will open.
  • Type in ipconfig /all and press Enter.
    • You will see the results for all Network Devices installed on your computer.
  • Locate the device you need the Physical Address (MAC address) for. Typically you will be looking for either:
    • Wireless Adapter: will typically appear as "Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection."
    • Wired Adapter: will typically appear as "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection."
  • Locate the line "Physical Address . . . . . . . . . :  XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX" under the desired adapter.
    • XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX will be a series of letter and numbers (i.e. "A4-BA-DB-E8-2E-E1").

Mac OS

  • Open System Preferences 
  • Select the Network icon
  • Click the Advanced button
  • The Wi-Fi Address is the MAC address

Chromebook

  • Turn on your Chromebook.
  • Click the status area, where your account picture appears.
  • Click the network icon Wi-Fi network icon.
  • Click the section that says Connected to and the name of your network.
  • At the top of the box that appears, pick your network.
  • In the window that opens, the MAC address is the Hardware address.

iPhone / iPod Touch

  • Go to Settings
  • Go to General
  • Go to About
  • The Wi-Fi Address is the MAC address

Android Mobile OS

  • Go to Settings
  • Go to About Phone 
  • Go to Status
  • The Wi-Fi MAC Address is listed
Note: Some Android devices require your Wi-Fi to be activated before displaying your MAC Address.
