Instructions for creating a personal webpage in the Math department


Every faculty and graduate student in the Math department has the option of hosting a personal webpage located at,
where netid is the university NetID.

A website consists of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files located in an individual's public_html directory on the departmental server:

At the very least your public_html folder should contain a file called index.html.

Caution: Off-campus, you will need to enable VPN

General settings

Regardless of which client you use to upload your files, you will want to create an SFTP connection to (port 22).


On windows we recommend using the Xftp client from NetSarang: Xftp 5 is free for educational use.


One option is to use the command line tool 'sftp.'

Another one is Fetch, available from the Webstore:
