The University supports the Tableau server only and clients can use our enterprise server infrastructure to publish and share contents. Clients who develop Dashboards, reports and visualizations use the Tableau Desktop tool. Tableau Desktop is the only gateway for the Tableau server to publish contents. The University does not support Tableau Desktop nor provides licenses. Customers must purchase their own license from Tableau directly.
Tableau Desktop is an independent tool that interfaces with different supported databases, files, servers (Oracle, SQL, MSSQL,Cloudsdb, Google analytics, Amazon server, Excel, Txt file etc.) and required knowledge and training for development. Clients around the campuses connect to their own datasets and create Dashboards/reports and publishes on our server and may have questions about “how to do”. This is something we do not provide support for and Tableau Desktop clients can find additional help. This document is to provide awareness to contact Tableau instead of AITS, for development related questions.
