Exchange, Remove unused mobile device partnerships from Exchange ActiveSync

This page describes how to remove mobile device partnerships in the Outlook Web App to allow you to sync email on a new device.

Exchange email currently allows 10 mobile devices to have an ActiveSync connection. If you exceed this number, you will receive an error such as "You have 10 phone partnerships out of the maximum allowed 10 partnerships." To remove old device partnerships to allow new ones to connect, do the following:

Exchange 2010 OWA
  1. Go to Options > See all options
  2. Select Phones on the left side of the screen
  3. Under the Mobile Phones heading, highlight an old device to remove (you can use the Last Sync Time to guide your decision)
  4. Click the X icon to remove the device (WARNING: do not select Wipe Device, as this will perform a factory reset and delete all data on the device)

Exchange 2010 OWA

Exchange 2013 OWA
  1. Select the gear icon in the top right, then select Options
  2. Select Phone on the left side of the screen
  3. Under the Mobile Devices heading, highlight an old device to remove (you can use the Last Sync Time to guide your decision)
  4. Click the garbage can icon to remove the device (WARNING: do not select the icon showing a pencil eraser above a phone, as this will perform a factory reset and delete all data on the device)
