Learn@Illinois Moodle - Making Course Sites Visible

In Moodle, course visibility is controlled by the instructor. This article shows you how to toggle the visibility of your course.

Courses can be made visible or hidden to users. You may wish to hide your site while it is under construction.

How do I know if my site is visible or hidden?

  1. Log in to learn.illinois.edu.
  2. Your course name will be displayed in the middle of the page. If it has "This course is currently hidden from students" and has an orange Make course site available to students button below it, your course is not visible to students.

Making my Course Site Visible or Hidden

  1. Log in to learn.illinois.edu.
  2. To make the course site visible, go to My Moodle and click on Make course available to students.

    1. To make the course site hidden, go to Administration box on the left hand-side of the homepage and under "Course administration", click Edit settings.

    2. Under the General settings, change the Visible drop-down menu to Show or Hide.

    3. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom and click Save Changes.

    Note: If you can't access the Administration box menu, your course has likely been archived. Please email atlas-tlt@illinois.edu and include the course URL and your name.
