UIC Go-Live for One ID/Password--Synch your Passwords

We are pleased to announce that UIC went live with the One ID/Password phase of the Identity and Access Management (IAM) project. The benefit to UA staff and any other employee who is managing multiple passwords is the ability to synch these passwords. How do you synch your Passwords?

Go to

  • If you haven't set your password recovery options yet, you need to complete this section and then change your password.
  • If your password recovery options are already set, you need to change your password.
  • Once you have changed your password, the following IDs will be in sync: Urbana NetID, Springfield NetID, Chicago NetID, Enterprise ID. You will be able to use the same ID and password for any application that uses these IDs and passwords.

Password Management

Now that One ID/Password is live for all campuses, it is simple to reset your password. Go to and check to be sure that you have set your recovery options. If this is complete, when your password expires, you can reset your password at your convenience; at home, in the office, at any time of the day without Service Desk assistance. This follows the industry practice to allow people to maintain control over their accounts and passwords.

Do I need to complete 2 Factor Authentication (2FA)?

On October 24, employees will receive more information from University Human Resources (UHR) about using 2FA with NESSIE. The University Office of Payroll and Benefits will send more information about using 2FA to access W-2s in November. In the future, 2FA will be required to conduct University business in systems that store and provide access to sensitive data, such as Banner, HR Front End, VPN, and email.

The University of Illinois System is implementing 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) to enhance and strengthen the University's protocols for securing sensitive data, including personal data for University employees. For more information on 2FA, please refer to “About UI Verify” at for an overview of Duo, the University’s 2FA provider.
