A walk through of the installation of CrashPlan on a Windows system.

Installing CrashPlan (v.4.x)  software on a Windows system.

Getting the Installation package
  • Download the appropriate package from WebStore. The downloads can be found under your purchase history.
Installing CrashPlan

Double click on the downloaded installer file to start the installation process.
NOTE: Admin access on your machine is required to install the client.

Click Next to continue.
Depending on your computer setup and your permission level, you can choose either to install CrashPlan for your individual account (prefered) or for the entire computer.

Select the location for the application to reside and then click Next.

Click on the Install button to start the installation.

The installer will display the progress of the process, click on the Next button to continue.

The completed install splash screen will be displayed. Click Finish to close the installer and the setup and application will start.

If this is the first computer/device that you have installed CrashPlan on select the New Account option. If you have installed CrashPlan prior or know that you have a CrashPlan account, you can select Existing Account.
Note: Depending on the installer used some of these fields may already be populated.

Since CrashPlan will be using AD for authentication you will need to use your AD netid and password to create the CrashPlan account. 
Once all fields are filled in click on the Create Account button.

The Application will startup immediately and automatically begin backing up your computer.
