Kaltura, Video quizzing (for instructors)
Instructors with videos in Kaltura can add limited quizzing functionality to them through the online editor.
Instructors can now add a simple quiz with multiple-choice questions to a video in Kaltura (https://mediaspace.illinois.edu). To access the grades, instructors will need to download a .csv file through https://mediaspace.illinois.edu, and, if they are using Compass, they would need to manually upload the file to their Compass Grade Center. Also, it is possible that students can take the quiz without logging in, and their results will not be associated with their name and NetID. The video quizzing function is best viewed as adding functionality to a video, rather than a full-featured asesment.
To create video quiz, see this help document on Kaltura's Website: https://knowledge.kaltura.com/interactive-video-quizzes-guide-creating-quizzes. * Note well: you must hit the "shuffle" button to randomize the answers. *
To access test results, here is the procedure, from Kaltura's Website: https://knowledge.kaltura.com/interactive-video-quizzes-guide-creating-quizzes and go to "Show How to View Quiz Reports and Analytics."
To upload grades from a video quiz into Compass (after you have downloaded them from mediaspace.illinois.edu), you would follow the same procedure as uploading grades from a scantron exam: You would need to edit the .csv file and delte all columns other than the netID and grade. Here is a help document explaining this: Illinois Compass 2g, Uploading Scantron Grades to the Grade Center .
Note: As an alternative, you can embed a video into the instructions or a quiz question inside of a quiz inside Illinois Compass with the "Mashup" button (Kaltura, Integration with Illinois Compass 2g ). Many instructors would prefer this, because of the full-featured quizzing available inside their Compass course spaces.
