Can Gmail or Drive data be restored after accidental deletion?

Items are permanently deleted when a user's Trash is emptied. Before requesting data be restored, please check your Trash for emails or files.

• Delete and restore files in Google Drive
• Delete or recover deleted Gmail Messages

If a Google Apps at Illinois user permanently deletes their Gmail or Drive data and later wants to get it back, it may be retrievable within certain limits.  Items deleted more than 25 days ago cannot be restored. Please consider this limit when making a request and allow adequate time for your request to be fulfilled.

How do I request an attempt to restore my data in Gmail or Drive?

To request we attempt to recover items, contact Technology Services Help Desk and note which service, Gmail or Drive, and the date range during which the items were deleted.  This information is necessary.

We cannot restore individual items. All items during the time period supplied will be restored.

After items are restored in Drive, the user will need to re-share them for others to have access.
