Why can't I log in to UIC applications?

This article details why users may have issues with logging into UIC applications, specifically the error "Error calling Bluestem.VerifyAuth: Code execution error: Method Bluestem.VerifyAuth returned error: Invalid credentialkey."

When logging into a UIC application, two things occur: authentication (the server identifying who you are) and authorization (the server granting access upon accepting identification).

A common login error that occurs, especially with Internet Explorer, may look like this: "Error calling Bluestem.VerifyAuth: Code execution error: Method Bluestem.VerifyAuth returned error: Invalid credentialkey."

The browser is attempting to authenticate and authorize you twice rather than once, causing an error.

Please ensure to click the Login button only once. Please close your browser, open a new window (or simply open a new tab), attempt to go to the URL again by typing it into the browser address bar and hitting Enter. Navigating with another browser, such as Firefox or Chrome, will also help the problem.
