List of current states for email clients for Office 365 Email.

The following notes the functionality status of mail clients when used against Office 365 email.

Outlook Desktop Mail Clients

  • Outlook 2007 on Windows: not allowed
  • Outlook 2010 on Windows: no focused inbox or unified group access
  • Outlook 2013/2016 on Windows volume license (from webstore): no unified group access
  • Outlook 2016 on Windows click-to-run (from office.com): full functionality
  • Outlook 2011 on Mac: works but unsupported
  • Outlook 2016 on Mac volume license (from webstore): full functionality
  • Outlook 2016 on Mac click-to-run (from office.com): full functionality
IMAP Clients
  • Thunderbird on Mac and Windows: IMAP/SMTP connectivity for basic mail access
 Web Clients
  • Outlook Web Access: full functionality
Exchange Web Services (EWS)
  • Mac Mail, Calendar, Contacts: basic email, calendaring, and contact syncing
  • 3rd party or custom applications using the EWS URL: should continue work on the new EWS URL, but testing should be performed first
Mobile Clients 
  • Outlook for iOS and Android: fully supported, allows viewing free/busy in scheduling events, ability to see shared calendars, scheduling Skype meetings, does not sync to built-in mobile applications
  • iOS default applications: standard ActiveSync connectivity (features dependent on Apple's implementation)
  • Android default applications: standard ActiveSync connectivity (features dependent on manufacturer implementation)
