Editing profile information in Experts.Illinois from an ATLAS Framework department website

Brief introduction to editing profile information in ATLAS Framework websites

ATLAS Framework websites provide a simple way to maintain a profile page for each faculty and staff member in your department.  The source used for information is either Experts.Illinois (for tenure-track faculty members) or the Illinois Directory for all other full-time staff.  Choose the directions below that apply to you.

All Users

  1. Start by going to your profile page on the department website.  This will typically be found by going to your website and looking in the Directory section for the listing page you are under.  Click your name to view your profile page.  
  2. Along the right side of the page, you will see a photo and possibly your contact information.  
  3. Click the Edit Your Profile button directly beneath this information.
  4. You will now be on the Profile Editing screen on your website.
  5. You must update certain information like your CV Document directly in this form.  For other information, see the correct instructions below.

Experts.Illinois Users

  1. Experts.Illinois users will see a yellow box describing their directory source which will include a link to visit Illinois Experts to update directory information.  Click this link to get started.
  2. Once you are logged into Experts.Illinois using your NetID and password, you will be able to add several types of information.  See the video below for more details:
    1. A photo in the Profile Photos section
    2. Research interest, Biography, and other information in the Curriculum and research description section.
    3. Publications by clicking the green Add new button
  3. When your changes are finished and saved in Experts, return to your department profile page form and click the save button there to pull your new information from Experts and into your department website.

Illinois Directory Users

  1. Illinois Directory users will see a yellow box describing their directory source which will include a link to visit Illinois Directory to update directory information.  Click this link to get started.
  2. You will be taken to a page that shows your current Illinois Directory information
  3. Click the Pencil icon near the top of the white section.
  4. Once you are logged into Illinois using your NetID and password, you will be able to add several types of information using the tabs along the top of the screen.  See the video below for more details:
    1. Role: Used to set your job title
    2. Address: Used to set your contact address
    3. Add'l Info: Used to set Biography, Office Hours, Research Statement and other narrative pieces
    4. Image: Used to set your photo.  Currently photo size is rather limited, but increased resolutions will be sorted by October.
  5. Click the save button after making each change and when finished you may close this tab and return to the department profile
  6. Click the save button on the department website profile form to re-import data from Illinois Directory.

Overriding directory source information

In some cases, the information you want to show on your department website will be different than what is in your campus level profile.  The ATLAS Framework system allows you to override any field with information specific to your department website.
  1. As before, start by going to your profile page on the department website.  This will typically be found by going to your website and looking in the Directory section for the listing page you are under.  Click your name to view your profile page.  
  2. Along the right side of the page, you will see a photo and possibly your contact information.  
  3. Click the Edit Your Profile button directly beneath this information.
  4. You will now be on the Profile Editing screen on your website.
  5. Below the yellow box describing your Directory source you will see a button titled Show All Override Fields.  Clicking this button will expose a number of fields that correspond to the fields shown on your profile page.
  6. Enter the new information you want to show on your department profile only in the fields you want to override.  All other information from your directory source will remain the same.
  7. When finished, click the save changes button to see your new overrides.
  8. Clicking the Edit Your Profile button again will show you the values you used for overrides.  You may remove the overrides by clearing the fields and clicking Save again.
