Is there an alternate discussion board for use in Blackboard?

Piazza is a discussion forum platform designed to facilitate higher quality collaborative discussions than the native Discussion Board that Blackboard provides. Piazza is integrated into Blackboard, where faculty can manage discussions in a course site.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING PIAZZA - Update December 2020

Piazza will be moving to a paid/contribution-supported model starting January 2021. UIC faculty can continue to use Piazza freely through August 1, 2021 with the contribution-supported model. The Piazza tool will also remain available for use in Blackboard course sites.  For more information on these Piazza changes, please visit Paid Model for Piazza Q&A.

UIC's Educational Technology Committee will be meeting on February 2, 2021 to discuss the possibility of acquiring a Piazza institutional license for Fall 2021. Additional information and updates will be communicated to faculty via the Technology Solutions and Circle Back to Campus Newsletters.
