Digital Signage, Using Interruptions in Content Manager

Interruptions can be used to selectively not play a scheduled content item or template during a period of time.

Overview

Interruptions can be set in Content Manager. A scheduled template or content item can contain any number of interruptions. Interruption schedules are always based on the clocks on the individual player machines. On signs that use more than one template, a content item containing an interruption obeys the interruption schedule only if that content item’s template is playing at the scheduled time of the interruption. For example, if Content Item 1 is scheduled on Template A and contains an interruption for noon today, but at noon, the sign is playing Template B, then Content Item 1 is not be able to honor its interruption.

Date and Time of first occurrence

Date and Time of first occurrence defines the date and time of the first interruption play of the template or content item.

Range

Range controls the number of times the first occurrence is repeated on the schedule.
  • One time only, no pattern - When the first occurrence is to display exactly once on the schedule.
  • No end date - First occurrence repeats forever on the schedule according to its pattern.
  • End after - First occurrence repeats for the exact number of times specified in the spin box.
  • End by - First occurrence repeats through the specified date according to its pattern.

Pattern

Patterns control whether the first occurrence repeats every day, only on specified weekdays, or only at specific times during the month.
  • To select specific days of the week on which the first occurrence is repeated, click the Weekly radio button, then check the day(s) of the week on which the first occurrence is to be repeated.
  • To select a specific time of the month on which the first occurrence is repeated, click the Monthly radio button.
  • Day <DayNumber> of each month specifies a specific day of the month on which the first occurrence repeats. Selecting 31 means the last day of the month, regardless of the number of days the month actually contains.
  • The [Last | First | Second | Third | Fourth] <DayName> of every month specifies a relative day of the month on which the first occurrence repeats.
