Digital Signage, Emergency Notification
The Digital Signage Service has partnered with the Division of Public Safety to enable Illini Alert emergency notifications to be displayed on campus digital signage.
Tests of the Illini Alert system are conducted the first Tuesday of every month at approximately 10:05 am. Those who manage digital signs that are subscribed to emergency channels should verify that their signs properly trigger during these monthly tests and report any inconsistencies to digitalsignage@illinois.edu.
Poppulo (FourWinds Interactive, FWi)
Poppulo uses Channels within Content Manager Desktop (CMD). Currently, there are two subscriptions available: horizontal (16:9) and vertical (9:16).
These channels must be subscribed individually to each player by the service team. If you are setting up a content player in Poppulo and wish for it to be subscribed to the emergency channel, please submit a service request.
Korbyt
We are currently working with the vendor on enabling Urgent Alerts in Korbyt Anywhere. Subscriptions to the alerts will be based on setting two metadata values on each of your players. Based on these settings, your player will become part of a dynamic Player Group that is subscribed to urgent alerts. Note: Subscribing a player to receive Illini Alerts must be done by a user with the Administrator role.
- Log into Korbyt Anywhere
- In the Mega Menu, select Players
- Under Actions, click the Pencil (edit) on the player you would like to subscribe to receive Illini Alerts
- Expand Custom Metadata (in the middle right pane)
- Two items will need to be set:
- ILAlert_Subscribed set to Yes
- ILAlert_Layout set to either Horizontal or Vertical (based on your display's orientation)
- At the top of the screen, click Save
If you require assistance with setting up a Korbyt player to receive Illini Alerts, please submit a service request.
