Tableau Production: Customer Alert for a known issue
Issue: After upgrading to 2021.2.1: The Direct View URL does not prompt for login credentials and displays a blank page, or an error depending on the browser (e.g., Chrome displays a 404 error).
Systems status page: Currently, https://status.uillinois.edu shows the Tableau service as degraded.
Tableau support is working on a solution, tracking number 1302304 which will be included in the upcoming release. Until the issue is resolved, depending on how you embedded Dashboards in the page we will use either a workaround or resolve on a case--by-case basis. Dashboards or Views with “Guest” user or UOFI\tableau-webviewer account will not experience this issue.
Option 1: Login to https://tableau.admin.uillinois.edu and try URL again.
Option2: Add /#/signin?redirect= parameter in URL after the server name and it will prompt for login.
Option 3: We have a temporary Tableau Production environment using an older version (2020.4.1), containing data cloned from the current Production environment. You have the option to modify the URL to point to the cloned system which should allow access to workbooks published on or before 09/11/2021. Please be cautious with the version compatibility if you have published a workbook after 09/02/2021. If you have published a workbook built with Tableau Desktop version newer than 2020.4.1, it may or may not work depending on the functionality. In that case, you can restore the previous version of the workbook as an option.
