Ability LMS - Logging into and Navigating the System
It is divided into the following sections:
Logging into Ability LMS
All University of Illinois-affiliated individuals with an active NetID and password have access to Ability LMS. It is important to note that the recommended web browsers are Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Edge. Ability LMS does not support Internet Explorer.
To log in, navigate to Ability LMS at https://uillinois.abilitylms.com and click the Sign In button.
Follow the prompts to log in using your NetID and password, and complete the two factor authentication by following the prompts in Duo 2FA
About the Ability LMS Home Screen
There are two main navigational elements on the Ability LMS home screen.
The first is the top navigation bar. The navigation bar contains links to the four main sections of Ability LMS: Home, My Menu, Course Search, and Calendar.
My Menu has four subsections: My Profile, My Enrollments, My Transcript, and My Assignments. Those subsections will be covered in more detail later.
Course Search is the main course catalog where you can browse all courses and learning tracks available to you. Calendar displays all instructor-led events available to you for registration.
The second navigational element is the tiles. There are four main tiles available to all users on the home screen: My Enrollments, My Assignments, My Transcript, and Courses Due.
My Enrollments displays all the courses in which your status is Enrolled or In Progress.
My Assignments displays all Learning Tracks to which you are assigned.
My Transcript displays a list of all courses in which you have any status, including Enrolled, In Progress, and Finished.
The Courses Due tile, when hovered over with your cursor, displays a scrollable list of all the courses you have that are coming due, passed due, or expired.
Finding a Course in Ability LMS
To find a course in Ability LMS, you can use the search box located at the top left of the screen.
Enter part of a course name or a term related to course into the search box and select the Go button. Once the search results load, find the course you are looking for in the results and click the tile to go to the course homepage.
You can also find a course by select Course Search in the top navigation bar. In Course Search, you will find a list of courses organized by category and subcategory.

Select the category in the left navigation pane to see the courses within that category and to expand it into its subcategories.

Select on a subcategory in the left navigation pane to narrow the results.

Find the course you are looking for in the results and select the tile to go to the course homepage.
